Cross country boot and ski

Wisconsin Skis: On New Skis!

I have been considering getting a new pair of skate skis and boots for many years because I frequently get blisters while skiing. I’m not sure if my technique is to blame or the fit of the boots, but it certainly took the fun out of long skis or skiing on subsequent days.

I went out to the Enjoy Winter showroom in Middleton, WI and got fitted for a new set of boots and bindings and they are sweet. I’m happy to report that after some long skis and skiing back to back days, I don’t have a single blister. The boots feel good, the skis glide well and I’m looking forward to more time on my skis.

Most new cross country ski boots are compatible with NNN bindings these days. I’m not an expert but I think that means that boots and skis are more interchangeable than they used to be. It also means that if I use my old skis for rock skis, or skis you use when the trail conditions may have some exposed rocks, I’ll need to keep my old boots or have the bindings changed out.
